Reports To:

The LPN works as staff in customer facilities. He/She functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff nurse and the Director of Nursing and/or appropriate supervisor at the facility. He/She reports to A-1 CAREERS for employment purposes.


  • Responsible for quality care rendered to patients at facilities.
  • Responsible for observing and administering nursing care to patients as directed by the immediate facility supervisor.
  • Responsible for accurately reporting the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor or other staff members
  • Responsible for performing assessments and procedures, which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skill based upon principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences.
  • Responsible for making decisions that are based on the individual’s education preparation and expertise in nursing.
  • Responsible for assisting in the care of all assigned patients in accordance with facility standards.


  • Graduate of accredited school for Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse and current license to practice in the state of Iowa.
  • Twelve months of accumulated experience within the past five years. New graduate in lieu of twelve months of accumulated experience: recently graduated persons will be eligible for employment after completion of 1,200 verified hours of employment in the past twelve months.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the work force, both clinically and non-clinically.
  • Able to successfully perform and prioritize multiple functions or tasks.
  • Able to bend, stop, stand, kneel, squat and freely reach.
  • Able to assist patients with daily activities; such as bathing, walking and transfers.
  • Able to read and interpret technical instructions related to the patient’s care.
  • Able to see and hear in order to observe and assess the patient.
  • Must adapt to changing work environment rapidly.
  • Must provide results of annual TB test and other state-required tests.
  • Must provide current certification of CPR Training.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background checks.
